The MPX-32D packages 32 high speed digital spectrometers into a compact 3U PXI/cPCI module, and is thus well-suited for detector arrays with lots of channels. Each spectrometer digitizes a differential analog input signal to 12-bit accuracy at 50 MHz, and then applies digital filtering to identify events and record their pulse heights. Data can be acquired in full spectrum (up to 8K MCA) mode, SCA mode and event-by-event list mode. The MPX-32D offers flexible triggering options, allowing the spectrometers to function independently or as an integrated system. All settings, including peaking time, gain and offset correction are computer controlled.
Originally developed for use with superconducting tunnel-junction detector arrays [1] and pixelated PMT arrays [2], the MPX-32D is now offered as a general product for use in other systems. Because the signal processing is implemented in programmable logic, the filtering algorithms, data format, acquisition modes, etc, can be tailored to the user’s application. Please contact XIA to discuss your application today.
