First Results from Mars Rover PIXL Experiment
NASA publishes first results from the Mars Rover PIXL instrument, which uses XIA technology to help search for signs of ancient life on Mars.
XIA is proud of its collaboration with NASA/JPL on the Mars Rover Perseverance PIXL experiment, one of several instruments mounted on the end of the Rover’s robotic arm. PIXL uses micro-focused x-ray fluorescence to provide geochemical data in the search for signs of ancient life on Mars. On July 20, 2021, NASA published PIXL’s first 2D chemical maps, accomplished with digital signal processing and fast mapping technology from XIA.
